Let the light shine......

Yet again its that time of the year, festivities are in the air and all around us... the sky is lit up with bright outburst of color, and so our hearts with the happiness of sharing!

Over the years, the festival of lights has become meaningful to me in more ways than one. I remember as a child how i was always petrified to burst crackers for the fear of the loud noises, but was always fascinated with colors and sparks in the beautiful flower pots, chakra's and sparklers. Surprisingly over the years, that has not changed. I enjoy the sights and not the sounds this time of the year.
Another experience which has become a ritual for me over the years has been, to go up to my terrace and watch the colors of the sky, soak in the sights of houses lined with "Diya's", just watch people burst those long trails of loud noisy crackers, and how excited they are as they burn them down. The sounds actually excite them though i see them going for ear cover(!).
Amidst all the grandeur and smiles this festival brings with it, there is also that sense of responsibility which it has brought in me towards Mother Nature, and all those little chidren who are subjected to child labor and everyone else involved all round the year to make our day colorful.B .ut sadly enough we all give it thought only this one day of the year :(
We all celebrate this festival to its full glory, but little do we realise the power of the Diya's we light. Diya's (Lamps we light) have inspired me, given me the strength and speaks a thousand silent words about how this festival is the best way to enlighten our lives. It takes away the darkness within us, ie all the feelings of hatred, jealousy, negative thoughts and lack of self confidence. It signifies the feeling of joy and happiness of bringing a smile on your face. It brings within me the joy of sharing, caring and love; a feeling that everything is going to be fine, and a new found hope it instills in me.
As i light the Diwali/Deepavali lamp, i hope i can bring smiles and spread love to everyone around me and that the light is not only seen at the end of the tunnel, but guides me each step of my way through the tunnel......

Happy Diwali..... :) Spread the joy.....
